I believe that God created the earth. He created the animals and everything that inhabits the earth. I also believe that He created man and woman. Man is a sinful being. We have free will, which means we can make our own decisions in life. Decision making comes with a price though. The biggest decision we face is where we will spend eternity. Two options: heaven or hell. Because God has given man a working brain to make our own decisions, He sent Jesus into this world. Jesus is God's Son. Jesus never sinned. He lived a blameless life, helping the poor and healing the sick. But the world, stuck in its ways, called Him a blasphemer. They chose HIM, an innocent teacher and healer, to die on the cross instead of a murderer. Jesus took our sins to the cross and was crucified. But thankfully, that's not the end of His story. Jesus rose three days later, and there is an empty tomb to prove it. He isn't finished yet! I believe that Jesus will one day return again to call His followers to heaven. The most important choice in our lives is this: Do we believe that Jesus really was God's son? That He died on the cross for our sins? And that He rose again on the third day? Whomever believes these things and calls upon God will be saved. Because of what Jesus did on the cross for us, if we believe these things, we will spend eternity with Him. I believe that this is true.
Many of the people who knew Jesus while He was ministering on earth died for this cause. Sometimes my faith falters and I struggle to believe the reality of the Bible. But when I think about how so many of these people died to share the story of Christ, it helps me believe. Why would these humans willingly die, if they did not have something worth dying for?
